My Idea- This was a fun project where I designed a display that would be used in high schools across Utah advertising the USU Stars progam. I wanted to keep it simple and to the point. Too often I feel that teenagers are being told what to do, the purpose behind this design was to tell them its up to them.
I enlarged the image to fit my required image size of 1920 pixels by 1080 pixels at 72 dots per inch
In Camera Raw I made some very minor adjustments to contrast and the shadows to enhance the hands
I used a font called Marker Felt, its a soft handwritten font that I feel flows well with the softness of the hands
I used a drop shadow and warped the text to make it look as though "SUCCESS" was being held in the hands
With a black background I wanted to make sure the colors popped off the image so I went with the contrasting white
The natural flow of the text moves down towards the right and I wanted to keep the flow from the hands going in that direction

My Idea- This is a photo of my 100 year old grandma who recently passed. I wanted to show this simple, non professional photo to show just how impressive basic editing in photoshop is. I didn't want to go overboard in editing out blemishes or wrinkles as I'm sure you can imagine there are a few on someone who is 100 years old. As you can see the original photo is on the left and the edited photo is on the right.
My How-
In Camera Raw I used the white balance tool to color correct the image
I decreased shadows and brought up the reds slightly
In photoshop I used the spot healing brush, healing brush, content aware, blur, and clone stamp tool to remove spots, blemishes and wrinkles
My Idea- This was a black and white image that I wanted to put some color into. A fun photo from my wedding, that I was excited to edit with different colors of what I was actually wearing.
My How-
Starting with a black and white image I used the quick selection tool to outline the different areas of clothing or body
While the areas were selected I created a new layer and used the brush tool to paint the colors I wanted
I set the blend modes to color to help achieve a more realistic color effect
I chose a blue, yellow and pink color combination to add some good contrast and make each portion pop as best as I could
My Idea- I wanted to use a single photo and break it into segments and change the color for a unique abstract picture.
My How-
I started with a black background and reduced the opacity to 90%
I created 4 rectangles and rounded the edges
I made layer masks with the rectangles
I copied and pasted the photo into each individual layer mask and made every other black and white
I created a text layer and typed "its a girl" using the font ArtType_Symufa
I lowered the opacity of the type to 59%
I used the bevel and emboss effect and give it a little more life
My Idea- This is a business card I did for a client. He had specific requests on coloring but other than that gave me that opportunity to create what I wanted. I wanted to keep things simple and incorporate some sort of image that correlated with his title "Lord of Finance".
My How-
I used the ellipse tool to create the red portion of the card
I imported the company logo as smart vectors on the front and back of the card
I found the image of the crown on Adobe Stock to put in the corner I thought it a good image with a title like "Lord of Finance"
I used the same font throughout with different weights
White is a great contrasting color to the black and red that are the dominating two colors on the card
I wanted to use a lot of repetition in the business card so I took the ellipse from the NOW logo and enlarged it as well as found a rounded crown to use and a more circular font
My Idea- This is a photo of my wife and I at sunset in McCall, Idaho. The original image was dark and lacked color, our faces were shaded and it was difficult to make out details.
My How-
I used Camera Raw to enhance this image
I took down the shadows, brough up the exposure, increased the clarity and the whites
I used the HSL to bring up the reds, oranges, and blues
Brought down the greens
I increased the details and luminance
My Idea- This was an advertisement I did for a client. All photos were taken by me. I wanted to keep the focus on the managers, the target audience are employees of the company who look up to and aspire to be like these leaders. I wanted to keep the focus on them and make the message direct and simple.
My How-
Individually I had to use the direct selection tool to edit out the background from each of the photos
I used the Camera Raw filter to bring up the highlights in the photos after making them black and white
I used a drop shadow on each of the photos to make them pop a little more from the white background
I used a modern font called Manifesto and matched the coloring of the company logo for symmetry
My intention was to keep the colors basic to allow the company logo and "The Future is NOW" phrase to stand out, I wanted to have the eyes of the audience wander to the company logo and phrase
I noticed the natural alignment is a V shape and centered on the page so I kept the font sharp and used two different sizes to help the flow of alignment
My Idea- This was and old worn photo of my Grandma and Grandpa. I thought it would be a good photo to restore and add color to.
My How-
I first wanted to remove the grainy look from the old image so I used the Camera Raw filter and increased the luminance along with various other adjustments to enhance the detail while fixing the grainy look
I then used the blur tool and the content aware tool to soften up the photo
For fun I decided to add color
Using the quick select tool I selected the various parts of the picture that I wanted to add color and used the brush with the blending mode set to color to give it a more natural look
My Idea- A fun grain camoflauge style I created in photoshop. I wanted to do something unique but that had fairly neutral colors so that it could be utilized across multiple different designs.
My How-
I used a stock image from adobe stock for the wheat field
To create the style I used a stock image of woodland camoflauge (found here)
I selected indivudually the separate colors from the camoflauge
Created new layers and pasted each color into a separate layer
I used bevel & emboss, stroke, inner shadow, color overlay, pattern overlay, outer glow and drop shadow.
On the tan style I also used gradient overlay to give it the textured effect
I used a font called American Captain a heavy weighted to show as much of the style as possible
My Idea- A social media flyer for a client who does weekly Facebook Live meetings with their employees. There are regular reminders to the employees about these trainings so this was just meant as a quick informative graphic the day before the event. I wanted to have a large meaningful graphic image to catch the attention of the audience with minimal writing as it was a reminder of what they had been hearing daily.
My How-
I found a flat design image on Adobe Stock to use as my background
Imported the "Leadership Academy" logo and adjusted the coloring to match the image
I used a modern light weight font to match the thin lines in the graphic
I pulled colors from the graphic to use for the fonts to help tie in everything
With all the circles that are used in the graphic I wanted to have the type flow in a similar way so you can see there is a slight curve in the type as it starts from the top and moves down
My Idea- This was an invitation I made for a client for an ugly sweater Christmas party. I pulled a vector image of the a nutcracker from Adobe Stock changed the face of the nutcracker to the logo for the team and used a pattern overlay on the jacket and some of the hat to make it a little more original. I wanted to use a festive type and unique placement to keep the invitation fun and exciting.
My How-
I used a red background to make the foreground images pop off the invitation
I imported the vector image of the nutcracker and deleted the face but kept the mustache
I then imported the team logo of the gorilla and replaced the nutcracker face with that
I outlined the suit, brim, and design on the hat, created a layermask and pasted the pattern
There was a lot of text required for the invitation and so I used a lightweight font to maximize space.
I pulled color from the vest on the nutcracker but lightened it up to make it pop
Two separate fonts were used Mountains of Christmas and Alwayshere
